![]() ![]() Then you can deal with green (Azov) to the west and Astrakhan to the east. You can maneuver around red (Sarai) but I wiped it out as it was in my way and they were the only ones who ever sent any real threat my way. Keep these alive, and the rest of the mission is trivial. Our goal is to destroy two cities if you want, you can also destroy Tokhtamysh's city of Ryazan (grey)-once you've dealt serious damage to it the entire town will convert over to you, and you'll get some nice siege upgrades.īuild up your economy and make your allies friendly, and then eventually you'll get a massive force from the south with two crucial trebuchets. Clearing these out will give you all the boost you honestly need for this mission, but it also clears trade lanes and the like. ![]() Since you have a large force already on you, you might as well scout around and take out the lone watch towers that come with caches in the buildings you destroy. You have two potential friends here: the nearby teal Volga Bulgars, and the east and west yellow Golden Horde to gain their tributes, you need to first tribute teal 1000 wood (so get a basic wood economy going, build a market, and then research the reduced tribute before you do it) and send two siege towers to the Golden Horde when you have the chance. Once the stragglers are gone, head northwest after your allies, and start scouting around to get the lay of the land. You'll start fighting a pitched battle make sure you send your villagers away from the fighting to the northwest, because they'll send enemies from behind that can tear them up. This mission has another economic wrinkle to it you can't farm or build ships because of the harsh winter, but it's still pretty simple. ![]() Blow him to hell, and then the mission is over. For my fun, I just massed petards and built castles outside the enemy's defense and boomed the enemy castles to death-I also built two in my northern ally's base, because once three castles are down, you've won-oh, no, wait, Tokhtamysh wants to start something. I basically never got attacked at my base and got tons of reinforcements. ![]() The rest of this mission is simple siege. If you want, convert some enemy elephants. Next, turn to the southeast, where there are a few buildings near Zarang you can destroy to cripple the enemy then, you can focus on the castle just north. You'll find a monastery guarded by a single tower knock them down and you'll find a relic, which you can ferry to Isfahan (teal) to the southwest, gaining their allyship. Garrison your ram and take your main force south. But before you get to that, set your available villagers to stone, lumber, and food, and build a few trade carts to start generating more gold. While most field cavalry, there's a variety of unit types you'll have to counter. The question becomes which enemies you want to deal with. Good news is very few serious attacks will come at you, which makes this mission pretty easy on Standard. If you support your allies, they will send you supplies-this is critical as you can't build town centers or create villagers on your own. Your goal this mission is to destroy the castle in any three of five enemy cities. I ended up building castles and monasteries near each so I could quickly ferry the priest's cargo back (and because you will not be short on funds, especially if you use the unique unit keshiks-they sap gold from their attacks. The Chagatai Khanate (green) to the east has a lot of towers and castles guarding their relic, while the Blue Horder to the west has much less of a hardened defense. With the perimeter towers demolished, I recommend just trying to bait the enemies by the castle out to where you can kill them without destroying the entire base (given that it becomes an ally later on, so stuff like the market will be useful.) You'll also get access to the docks afterwards as well.Īfter that, you have two more relics to grab. There is a Mongol stronghold, where you need to kill Urus Khan to gain the loyalty of Tokhtamysh Khan at the map's center. Set up your economy, build a few siege weapons, and then hoof it to the NW. Welcome to Central Asia, where your goal is to start carving up your enemies and capture relics. There is one mission-specific achievement. In this campaign, you play as the 14th-century Tatars in Eurasia. ![]()
